Kuddle Life Foundation & Kuddle Life Ventures are building hope beneath the waves. Through innovative artificial reefs, we restore marine biodiversity and support sustainable livelihoods for artisanal fishing communities.

Why Artificial Reefs?

Artificial reefs are man-made structures placed in oceans at depths of 5m to 50m to replicate natural reef ecosystems. These immobile structures provide a base for drifting plankton and microbial life to settle, attracting diverse species and creating a self-sustaining ecosystem.

Donate and Make a Reef

Make a Lasting Impact

Donate $200 to fund an artificial reef module, crafted from reinforced concrete and designed to restore marine biodiversity. Modules are installed in the Pondicherry Bio-Region, with options for other locations in India or worldwide for large donor projects.

How it Works?

Donate: Contribute $200 or more for one or multiple modules.
Mark your initials: Choose 4 letters to mark your reef module(s) (Optional).
Get Recognized: Receive a digital certificate and a mention of your name on our website (Optional).
We Build: Within three months, we craft and install your reef module(s) in the ocean.
See the Impact: Receive photos of your module(s) on land and in the sea after placement.

About Us

A Partnership for Ocean Conservation

MakeaReef.com is a collaborative project by Kuddle Life Ventures and Kuddle Life Foundation, based in Pondicherry, India. Together, these organizations combine for-profit innovation with non-profit expertise to restore marine ecosystems and support sustainable development.

Kuddle Life Ventures manages the manufacturing and installation of artificial reef modules, while Kuddle Life Foundation provides scientific advice and expertise to ensure the ecological success of each project. Contributions to MakeaReef.com are routed through Kuddle Life Ventures for the direct purpose of creating and installing these life-saving modules.

Our Journey & Our Impact

We’ve installed two artificial reefs in India. One in Worli, Mumbai & another in the Pondicherry bio-region.

Impact made by our reef in the Pondicherry bio-region:

Doubled fishermen earnings – US$ 25 to US$ 50 per boat per day

US$ 10 saved per boat per day due to less diesel used

Tens of thousands more fishes

4 times more number of species

20% more Dissolved Oxygen

2.65 times more chlorophyll:
(Chlorophyll is a green pigment (the same pigment that makes tree leaves appear green) that the phytoplankton use to absorb sunlight.)

2.2 times more planktons:
(Planktons (zooplankton and phytoplankton) are microscopic animals and plants that are the foundation of marine food pyramid.)

0.5 tons of less CO2 emissions everyday
(20 fishing boats each use only 4 liters of diesel everyday instead of 12 liters because they don’t need to travel very far)
